The Top 3 Things to do if you have Neck and Radiating Arm Pain

  • March 26, 2018

Many assume the worst when they have pain radiating in their arm. That they have some pinched nerve or that they are going to need surgery. But before you walk down that road, lets consider the alternative. Lets think about the most likely culprit and know it can be treated successfully.Neck Pain at Desk Image

If you should find yourself suffering with neck pain (that may also radiate down your arm), here are the top things you should do right away:

  1. Keep your neck moving. It is tempting to avoid moving your neck or arm because of pain or tingling, but movement is actually necessary (and good even if it hurts some). By avoiding movement, those muscles and joints become stiff, which often leads to more pain. If you can gently move your head and arm you can very likely begin to reduce some of that pain quickly
  2. Remain active. Do not lay around self-medicating just hoping it will go away. Our bodies are made for movement and have a great capacity to heal if we provide the proper stimulus. Movement helps to clear the chemicals which are one reason for that pain radiating down the arm
  3. Don’t wait to see if it will just go away on its own. Early hands-on treatment has been shown to quickly and safely reduce neck and radiating arm pain. Often restoring motion to the soft tissues and joints of the neck and upper back is the ticket to getting rid of those pains.

Not convinced that movement and treatment will be what helps you?

It is perfectly fine to take the medical route and wait to see the doctor. The doctor (who will just prescribe pills and maybe take pictures of the neck). You will be fine seeing a provider who will see you for 3 minutes (if you are lucky) and not even really look at your neck. It is not a big deal that you will be told those x-rays of your neck show you have the spine of a much older person (because that is was doctors like to do to scare patients into surgery). Don’t worry, you surely will feel better after the doctor scares you and makes you wait longer for the proper treatment because they like the wait and see approach. Don’t worry, a needle or knife might fix your problem.

Wait…not interested in a needle, knife, or pills? Then heed the above warning and take action for your health. You are FREE to bypass the doctor and go right to a medical provider who can help you today. Don’t know where to turn? Get some more advice sure to help HERE.
