Unable to turn your head

Dec 1, 2025 | 0 comments

Are you unable to turn your head due to neck pain? Not only is it a literal pain in your neck, but it also can greatly inhibit your daily life.

Being unable to turn your head can cause many issues. It can impact the ability to communicate with others around you. It may disrupt your sleep. But most importantly, the inability to turn your head could result in driving being unsafe.

It is important to have sufficient neck rotation to drive. You need to be able to check the blind spot. Sure you can adjust your side mirrors to reduce those blind spots, but are you getting the full picture? Even with all the new cameras on cars today you there still is likely a few spots without great visualization.

Many do not know that an average adult’s neck rotation is about 70-80 degrees. This amount enables people to scan side to side to a reasonable degree. When the amount of rotation drops below 60 degrees checking your blind spot becomes more challenging…as in not able to without turning your body. Then when a person has even less, more daily issues present themselves.

Hopefully by the time a person realizes their loss of motion, whether painful or not, they take steps to remedy the issue.

What steps?

It begins by working with a muscle and joint expert to reduce the pain and restore range of motion. Typically, there is a reason for the loss of motion. Whether it is due to pain, joint stiffness, or muscle tightness, this professional will help to solve the limitation for you. This may involve hands-on treatments as well as active motion work/exercises that can be done at home to compliment treatment. In short order, the pain should lessen, and your range of motion will improve.

Do not let any more time pass being unable to turn your head.
