Blind Spot Pain

  • May 2, 2022

Have you ever experienced neck pain checking your blind spot? Concerned about your safety driving when you are not able to turn your head without pain? If you answered Yes to either of these questions, then it is time to address these concerns.

Everyday thousands of people drive around with neck pain…some greatly struggling to turn their head. This generally is not a recipe for safe driving. To compensate, people will often turn their body instead. Folks will go on this way for weeks or months, just hoping it will go away. But is that necessary? Do people or should people have to suffer with head turning pain? The answer is a resounding NO.

So why then do people wait?

Because they either truly believe if they wait long enough it will just go away – OR – they do not know what can be done.

What can be done is get to the root cause and solve the problem.

Often the root cause is some muscle tension which restricts neck joint mobility. It is this restricted mobility that produces the pinching pain. The good news is…there is a solution.

This solution is to have a muscle and joint expert (a physical therapist) evaluate, diagnose, and then treat the cause. Often treatment will consist of soft tissue work, hands-on neck mobility, plus active exercise to restore normal balance to the neck muscles and joints.

Will this process hurt?

Not if done with focused intention by the treating muscle and joint expert. This person should be able to learn what is wrong and help guide the person in pain to no longer live with pain.

How long will it take?

Well…that depends on how long a person waits to have the issue treated. The longer the pain and dysfunction are present, generally speaking the longer it takes to resolve.

The message here is…DO NOT WAIT. Addressing this concern more quickly will result in getting rid of that pain when checking your blind spot.
