Every single day, people search for answers to end shoulder pain. And every day, people are left waiting and wondering when their pain will end.
With that in mind, here are 5 key things to end shoulder pain
- Avoid sleeping on the painful shoulder. Even if it is your preferred sleeping position it is a good idea to not sleep on it night after night. This increase in pressure is often irritating and it reduces healing blood flow to the shoulder. Instead sleep on the opposite side with a pillow under the arm.
- Keep the arm moving in a tolerable range. Avoiding movement of the arm altogether leads to stiffness and then often pain. To combat this, keep the arm moving in some way or position…even if this requires laying down and using a golf club to assist raising the arm overhead.
- Stretch out your upper back. Believe it or not, tightness in the upper back can impact range and pain of the shoulder. See, if the upper back is tight, then this impacts the freedom of movement of the shoulder blade which in turn does not move as freely with reaching. This then results in more pain or discomfort of the shoulder as one attempts to push through this restriction.
- Minimize how many times you perform an aggravating or uncomfortable activity each day. Too often we are stubborn and just do what we have to do. But…this does not always afford our body what it needs to heal. Think about it this way – if you were hit once per day in the exact same spot every day for 3 weeks would that sore bruise ever go away? Doubtful – and the same is true with the shoulder if the same bothersome activity is completed day after day.
- Seek help from a shoulder pain expert. No one enjoys living with shoulder pain. The shoulder is the most mobile and complex joint in the body and requires someone’s skilled eyes and brain to solve the problem. After all, you likely aren’t in the garage tinkering with your car’s engine to solve the problem – you take it to a mechanic. So, if you are willing to do that for your car, why not your body?
