The accountability to succeed is a crucial element in achieving any goal. With the start of each new year people make goals with the intention of being successful. However, far too often the goal is not met, rather abandoned part way through. Why is this the case? It is too hard or takes too long. Simply the lack of accountability makes achieving success more difficulty. This is because when the times get hard (and they always do) it is easier to stop then press on. That is without someone holding the person accountable.
So, lets dive a little bit deeper into how a together mindset can help one achieve success this year (or with any goal). By nature, people do not want to let others down. However, when it comes to oneself, that can be a different story. Too often one’s personal goals or aspirations will be dropped to help another or when “it feels too hard”. But, if someone is rooting for you, pushing you toward success, that success is more likely to happen. Why? Because not wanting to let another down is motivation enough. This accountability to succeed is what will drive a person to make sure they do not fail.
Now that you understand a bit about human nature and success, what are the next steps? The first step is to look back at that goal you wrote down (or write it down for the 1st time). Next, find someone who can and will hold you accountable. This can be any person who you know will not let you fail. Someone who wants you to succeed in whatever the endeavor might be. A person who will hold you accountable to make sure you achieve your goal.
Don’t have that person, then go find one. If your goals are fitness related – find a personal trainer. If they are diet related – a dietitian, nutritionist, or trainer could work. Should your goal be business related, a business coach would be in order. It really does not matter the goal but having that accountability to succeed can and will make all the difference.
Here is to success – whatever that might look like.
