Did you know there are major benefits of more facetime with your healthcare provider? It’s true. Having more time to talk and work with your provider leads to greater results. These results can be in any domain of health…be it wight-loss, making sure to reduce medication side effects, addressing medical concerns, and certainly rehabilitating an injury.
People value their time, but do they get the time they need from their healthcare team? In most cases the answer will be a resounding NO.
Tell me…how long do you wait to see your PCP? What about trying to see a specialist such as a neurologist? Weeks or months at best. And when you finally get to see a medical provider how much time do they spend with you? Minutes at best…and you waited how long in their waiting room to see them. Patients just are not valued as they should be.
BUT…there is a newer wave of old-school healthcare providers who value the personal connections and interactions with their patients. They set up practices devoted to serving patients 1st. Patients can actually get in to see a provider quickly (potentially even same day) and when at the office get to spend a significant amount of time with the provider (often 30-60 minutes or more). It is through these practices that there is once again a solid provider-patient relationship.
These providers and practices are ever-growing and is providing more people with the opportunity to received more personalized care once again.
Does spending more time with your healthcare provider appeal to you? What about getting in to see your provider more quickly? Or how about being able to talk through all your concerns and develop a comprehensive plan for your health vs only being able to talk about 1 thing at a time?
Sounds like a good idea…and how all healthcare truly should be in this country.
